Nina Simmons

As administrative assistant and receptionist for the Honors College since 2005, Nina Simmons truly puts students first, helping them to feel at home and making sure that everyone's chocolate needs are met. She also provides invaluable support to the Honors College staff.

Nina Simmons graduated from the University of Eastern Michigan in 1959 and began a teaching career that spanned more than 25 years in all grade levels. She worked for the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences honors program from 1995 - 2002, returning from retirement in 2003 to work part-time for the Honors College. During her years with the Fulbright honors program Simmons was named employee of the quarter and since joining the Honors College staff she was named an honorary member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. This award was given in recognition of her many hours of volunteer work and service within the communities where she has lived. In her free time, Simmons spends quality time with her grandchildren Dillon and Zoe, volunteers at the Walton Arts Center and travels the world with her church choir.
