Will I have the opportunity to live in Honors housing?
Yes! Most first year Honors students and many returning Honors students live in Pomfret Honors Quarters. Learning communities abound across campus. Early application will insure chances of getting into the living community of your choice.
What are the special benefits to living in Pomfret Honors Quarters?
Pomfret is home to an active community of students with high academic goals, so learning goes on beyond the classroom. Whether it occurs in study groups, informal discussions, outside playing disc golf or soccer, playing music, or during the many activities the students create, intellectual exchange is a part of life. Pomfret has its own dining hall, classrooms, meeting and music rooms, and a large lounge.
What are other options for housing?
The Quads, a living environment for upperclassmen, offer honors housing in building B. Like Pomfret, the facility has its own dining hall and special meeting rooms. While honors housing is popular, it is not required. Honors College student may choose another residence hall or off-campus living.
Do I need a car?
Students may bring a vehicle to campus but they must purchase a parking permit. The resident reserved spaces close to Pomfret Honors Quarters may be purchased during Orientation at a cost of $394 while less expensive permits afford parking at more distant lots. Students walk or take the Pomfret Express transit bus to the center of campus.
Where will I park?
Parking is available near Pomfret Honors Quarters and at other lots and decks around the campus. If you plan to bring a car you will need to get a parking permit.
