Frequently Asked Questions

If your question does not appear in this list, please e-mail us at honors@uark.edu.

Do honors classes cost more?

No. Students pay the tuition and college fees charged by the academic college in which they are enrolling but there is no additional charge for the honors designation.

Who is eligible to join the Honors College?

Students with an ACT composite score of 28 and above, or an SAT V+M combined score of 1240, and high school GPA of 3.5 (3.75 for Walton College of Business majors) will be invited to join the first year.

What is the deadline for scholarships and fellowships?

The final deadline for scholarships and fellowships is February 1 of your senior year, but new students are encouraged to apply by November 15th for early consideration for admission and scholarships. There are separate applications for UA scholarships and Honors College fellowships. Students with very high ACT and SAT scores and grade point averages are encouraged to apply for Honors College Fellowships. Students applying for admission after the February 1 deadline may still be accepted to the Honors College and will have an opportunity to join during summer Orientation.

Are there scholarships for continuing students?

Yes. Scholarships ranging from $300 to $5,000 are offered to continuing students through the Office of Academic Scholarships. However, funds are limited, and the competition is keen. The deadline for consideration is March 1. Students should also consult with their academic departments and college Dean’s office to apply for scholarships that are specific to their major.

When do I sign up for Honors?

Students who meet the eligibility requirements will be invited to join an honors program in their academic unit during the Orientation Program early in the summer.

Do I need a car?

Students may bring a vehicle to campus but they must purchase a parking permit. The resident reserved spaces close to Pomfret Honors Quarters may be purchased during Orientation at a cost of $394 while less expensive permits afford parking at more distant lots. Students walk or take the Pomfret Express transit bus to the center of campus.
