Undergraduate Research Grants
Through a generous gift from the Walton Foundation, the Honors College is able to offer undergraduate research grants, providing support for full-time students and their mentors.
The February deadline does not require the SURF application. Instructions for the SURF application will be available after September 1st when the October deadline approaches.
Requirements
- Students must be active participants in the Honors College.
- Competitive students generally have a 3.5 or higher and have completed at least thirty college hours, including six honors hours.
- To receive funding, successful applicants must be regularly enrolled in a full-time course of study at the University of Arkansas during the grant period.
Application Process
- Fill out the Undergraduate Research Application (Online Form)
- Print the PDF file generated from the online form (After printing, save a copy for yourself.)
- Deliver the completed Undergraduate Research Application with all required documentation listed below to the Honors College (ADMN 418).
Required documentation
- Completed Undergraduate Research Application (generated from online form)
- IRB approval letter attached (for students using human subjects, including, but not limited to, surveys, interviews and testing.)
- Copy of official university transcript with honors courses highlighted
- Honors College budget narrative
- Three letters of recommendation (one letter from your mentor, two from faculty members)
- A well-written, carefully documented research proposal (not to exceed 5 pages)
- A one-page abstract
- A two-page (max) faculty vita
- A two-page (max) student resumé
- Fine Arts students may submit examples of creative works (up to 10 pages of creative text, or 10 slides, or 30 minutes of a musical or dramatic performance)

Awards
Awards up to $2,900 may be made to the students. Mentors will receive a maximum award of $1,000. Awards will vary and partial awards may be made.
