Jason Blankenship, Director of Retention and Student Advising
Focusing on student mentoring and retention, Jason Blankenship supports and enhances the work of academic advisors across campus. Through workshops, small group meetings and one-on-one advising sessions he helps honors students articulate their goals and develop a plan for their honors experience and their careers beyond campus. He is launching several initiatives, including the development of student success plans, senior research symposia, and study abroad and research grant workshops. In this role, he partners with colleagues in the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards, the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange, and in honors programs across campus.
Jason earned a bachelor's degree in anthropology and master's degrees in English and counseling from the University of Arkansas. He has accrued more than 14 years of work experience at the university, working in the admissions office, mentoring students applying for nationally competitive awards, advising students in Fulbright College, and serving as the associate director for the Fulbright College Honors Program. Off campus, he has taught English courses at Northwest Arkansas Community College and helped first-generation students at Fayetteville High School prepare for college and careers through the RazorCoach program.
