This forum explores contemporary controversies swirling around the concept of privacy. Disciplinary perspectives include: Cultural anthropological readings of privacy in global and historical contexts, Western conceptions of “private space," data science and the ethics of privacy, cybersecurity, Web 3.0, legal and constitutional definitions of privacy, philosophies of privacy, medical readings of privacy and human bodies, archival secrets and rights to privacy, state surveillance and individual privacy, architectures of privacy and privacy and supply chain systems.
Through this interdisciplinary investigation of "privacies," this forum will prepare students to tackle contemporary problems related to privacy with historical and cultural competencies. See the forum syllabus here.
