First Generation Mentoring Program

Are you first in your family to attend a four-year college?

You’re not alone — 1 in 4 students at the U of A are first-gen. Many of our faculty are first-gen as well. The First-Gen Mentoring Program will pair you with a professor who will meet with you, answer your questions and offer tips to help you succeed. You do not need to be in honors to participate.

  • Navigate career paths
  • Become more involved on campus
  • Find a research mentor

Students, no need to be in honors to join!

"Meeting with Dr.Muldoon has been a turning point in my university journey, making it both manageable and memorable. His guidance and advice have been a pillar of support, not just academically but also emotionally. His acceptance and encouragement have helped me find my life's direction. In addition to this, Dr. Muldoon has broadened my academic horizons by introducing me to various research topics I may want to pursue in the future."
