Laurie Biggs Marshall
Laurie Biggs Marshall is serving as the editor for Honors College as a graduate assistant. In this position, she writes and edits content for honors communications and A+ Magazine.
Laurie believes her passion for the U of A likely began as a toddler—listening to the Razorback Marching Band (formerly the Marching Razorbacks) on her parents’ record player. After earning her B.A. in English as a nontraditional student in 2008, she’s back on campus working toward an M.F.A. in creative writing in the fiction track.
Her professional experience includes stints on campus in the School of Law and University Advancement, as well as a formative year as a library tech in David W. Mullins Library in the early 1990s. Laurie has worked in fundraising and communications for nonprofit organizations in Northwest Arkansas and written content for local and regional magazines and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Most recently, she managed to find time in between freelancing gigs to write a collection of short-short fiction that was published by ELJ Editions in 2023.
Her three kids are grown, so she’s (theoretically) able to focus on her school requirements, but when she’s not reading and writing* you can find her performing with a local improv group, hunting for thrift store bargains and making mixed-media art.
*She's never not reading and writing.
