Prestigious Fellowships › Apply
Students who are academically competitive for Prestigious Fellowships only need to complete the Prestigious Fellowships application. Prestigious Fellowship applicants are also considered for UA New Freshman Scholarships.
November 16
- Priority deadline to be considered for New Freshman scholarships.
- Notice of scholarship awards for this deadline will be sent by December 31.
February 1
- Final postmark deadline to be considered for Prestigious Fellowships and, as funds allow, New Freshman scholarships.
- Deadline to apply for the Arkansas Distinguished Governor's Scholarship
Application Checklist
IMPORTANT: Make sure you type your e-mail correctly and add honors@uark.edu to your address book to receive the PDF attachment after successful submission.
- Apply Online
- Include printed PDF sent via e-mail after successful online application
- Include an academic resumé
- List 5 works (fiction, poetry, drama, non-fiction, history, science, education, engineering, business, etc.) you have read this year that you have most enjoyed. Include two or three sentences after each explaining your attachment to the work, placing an asterisk by those you were required to read.
- Write a well-developed essay on one of two choicesConsider two historical figures that you would like to invite for a dinner or conversation. Discuss a particular insight that you believe each might provide to you as you embark on your educational and professional journey and then discuss how you might apply such to your dreams and goals. (Cite sources if appropriate.)
- OR -
Consider an experience that has had a profound influence on any of your academic, creative, career, or service goals. Discuss how what you learned from that experience informs your future plans. - Provide an official transcript with test scores
- Enclose two letters of recommendation on official letterhead in sealed envelopes

Bodenhamer Fellowship
- All academic majors considered.
- 32 ACT or 1400 SAT (Verbal+Math)
- Minimum 3.8 high school GPA (weighted) *
- Demonstrated leadership; 6 offered each year
Honors College Fellowship
- All academic majors considered
- 32 ACT or 1400 SAT (Verbal+Math)
- Minimum 3.8 high school GPA (weighted) *
- Strong academic curriculum and performance
- 75 offered each year
Sturgis Fellowship
- Fulbright College of Arts and Science majors
- 30 ACT or 1320 SAT (Verbal+Math)
- 3.8 high school GPA *
- Demonstrated service and community involvement
- Intellectual curiosity/creative pursuits
- 5-6 offered each year

* The Fellowship application is considered for academic scholarships. The Academic Scholarship Office uses the Arkansas standard for GPA calculation. This calculation is on a 4.0 scale and allows for weighting AP/IB classes only. Students who report a GPA not on a 4.0 scale and/or with weighting for classes other than AP/IB will be recalculated. GPA is one of many selection criteria that will be considered, including test scores, involvement, strength of curriculum, and essay.
