Runway will present an interactive study of runway fashion throughout the ages. Students
will study the history of fashion shows, discuss how the pandemic has impacted the
runway, and interact with guest speakers about actual fashion show experiences.
This one-hour course will study different types of fashion shows and will allow students
to analyze past shows and create ideas for shows in the post-pandemic world. Other
topics of discussion will include diversity on the runway, using fashion to create
social change, and eating disorders in the modeling industry.

About Stephanie Hubert:
Stephanie Hubert, instructor in the Apparel Merchandising and Product Development
Program in School of Human Environmental Sciences of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural,
Food and Life Sciences is an active honors mentor and teaches an honors apparel production
class. She has led honors students on study tours to London, Paris, New York, and
Las Vegas. She is also one of the coordinators of the Apparel Merchandising and Product
Development fashion show.
Students under Hubert’s direction have received awards at the International Textile
and Apparel Association Annual Conference. She advises honors research on a wide variety
of topics, from the technical challenges of using a 3D printer for fashion to costume
designs for Tolkien characters. Both of these honors theses were featured in A+, the
Honors College magazine, and the Tolkien-inspired costumes were exhibited in the Honors
College wing of Gearhart Hall in Fall 2019.
Stephanie was awarded the Bumpers College Outstanding Honors Faculty Mentor Award
in 2017, Honors Faculty Equipment and Technology Grants in 2016 and 2017, and in 2019
she received the Honors College Distinguished Faculty Award.
